As
the world has evolved around April, so has her photographic art evolved. Featured on this
page are her new one-of-a-kind pieces which complement her elegant floral portraiture.
April's new creations begin as one of her existing floral portraits. It is custom printed
by her in different variations of color and or sizes. She then hand cuts each
subject from its background. It may then take from two days to two months to assemble the
intricate, colorful designs. April says it has to "feel right" or the images go
back in the box to look at another time. Her use of overlapping and matting gives each
creation a three dimensional look. Her first effort with this new style, "Purple
Light Wheel", brought her a Best of Show award at the annual juried members show at
the Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. The judge, a noted Bard College professor,
commented favorably on this promising new direction for April's photographic art. We hope
you enjoy this e-gallery featuring several of April's latest works.
